Little Ghosts Free Washcloth Pattern
Perhaps in part because I got really into the show Ghosts this year (it started with the US version then I discovered I could watch the UK version on CBC Gem), I got some fall/spooky season/Halloween inspo for a washcloth to add to my collection of Halloween washcloths (Broomsticks, Pumpkin Patch, and Candy Corn). While I’ve had various ideas come to me since I last posted many, many months ago, the timing worked out this time for me to act on the inspiration to pick up my needles and make this washcloth, and then to do the equally time consuming part of writing everything up and posting! I hope you…

How to Add Ear Flaps to a True North Toque
Some (not all) of the links in this post are affiliate links, which provide a very small commission to me for the referral, at no extra cost to you. A few years ago I knit my whole family True North Toques (pattern by MbyMKnitwear). (If you don’t know, toque is Canadian for “beanie”). The year before I had made myself one and was so pleased with the buffalo plaid effect from the three colours of Lion Brand Thick & Quick, and my family was definitely interested in having their own (I may have mentioned this in my On Repeat post). I believe when the pattern was first released it only…

Little Trees Washcloth Knitting Pattern
The sister to the Christmas Tree Farm Washcloth, this pattern features just 5 Christmas trees (or plain evergreen/coniferous trees, seeing as they’re not actually decorated). These are more shapely trees, and remind me of what I consider to be the standard Christmas tree cookie cutter shape. The progression of the Christmas tree size was of course partly inspired by my series of cactus washcloths, this one in particular along the lines of the Little Cactus Washcloth. And more tree washcloths were possible simply due to the size of a ball of Knit Picks Dishie. There was no question that I would be able to knit, at the very least, a…

Christmas Tree Farm Washcloth Knitting Pattern
Christmas trees have been the theme of this Christmas season for me. They’re always an important part of course – it’s not really Christmas until the tree is up. But many of my favourite Hallmark movies this year have focused on Christmas trees, such as You, Me and the Christmas Trees. My sister and I also often talk about farms, and usually a Christmas tree farm would be included amongst the many other aspects of our imaginary farm. So it seemed more festive, despite the fact that given some of my other naming patterns for washcloths (Mini Cactus Washcloth, Little Cactus Washcloth, Cactus Washcloth (which also hints at another tree…

Tools Washcloth Pattern
This third pattern for my December-release washcloths was a specific request by my friend for her husband. And I think it might be my favourite from this “collection” (including the F1 Racecar washcloth & Running Shoe Washcloth). The washcloth includes a measuring tape, hammer, and screwdriver. When I finished it I sent my friend a message that said “I feel like this is a weird thing to say, but that hammer turned out really cute!” Really, who ever heard of a cute hammer? Scroll down for the FREE pattern, or get the printable PDF for $2. This washcloth is definitely reversible and unlike the other 2 washcloths in the collection,…

F1 Racecar Washcloth
Another of the knit washcloths I designed for my friend for Christmas is an F1 racecar. This turned out to be one of the more challenging designs I’ve done because the size of knit stitches in dishcloth cotton is rather large, and current F1 cars are highly detailed and refined. This particular car is my rough depiction of the 2019 Ferrari F1, but when I asked my friend who works for Ferrari if he knew what it was, he did say it was a Ferrari…just a much older version than the one I was aiming for… I actually originally abandoned this design because the shape seemed incompatible with a knit…
