    Running Shoe Washcloth Pattern

It is a great honor when someone loves the things you knit. And my friend and her husband are probably the biggest fans of my washcloths that I have. So for Christmas I came up with 3 new designs, specifically for him! Obviously these could be enjoyed by anyone of course, they just happen to be his interests! This pattern has one running shoe, slightly inspired by a free t-shirt I received for volunteering (with work) at a water station at one of the Stampede related runs that occur in Calgary every year. The colour even ended up being pretty much the same as that shirt. While like most of…

    Broomsticks Washcloth

Perhaps my favourite of my October collection of washcloths, this washcloth adds one more technique to the simple knits and purls to create the broomsticks, to go with the Candy Corn Washcloth and Pumpkin Patch Washcloth. Scroll down for the FREE pattern or get the printable PDF for $2. Broomsticks are of course the chosen transportation method of witches, an important component of the games of Quidditch and curling, and as I’ve been reminded this week as I’ve used my broom every day – a necessary piece of equipment for snow removal on many kinds of walkways around the world. Though maybe that last one isn’t something most people would…

    Butter Sweet Candy Corn Washcloth

Next up after the Great Pumpkin Patch Washcloth, in my October themed washcloths, is a candy corn washcloth. Did you know that originally this candy was called “Chicken Feed”? I thought this wasn’t particularly descriptive as I was looking for something other than just Candy Corn for the name of this pattern. But I did see that old packages of candy corn described the candy as being “butter sweet”, and given the colour I chose to knit my washcloth in, butter sweet seemed perfect! Scroll down for the FREE pattern, or get the printable PDF for $2. The washcloth has 3 rows of candy corn, with the middle row offset from the…

    Number 35 Knit Washcloth Pattern

To finish up my knit homage to my friend’s favourite hockey player, Jean-Sebastien Giguere, I had to make a #35 too, the number worn during the more illustrious part of his career with the Ducks. Obviously a #35 is equally as specific as the #47. But 35 is at least more of a milestone birthday than 47. And it might be less likely that you would know someone born in 1935 now, but 2035 is coming! And if your grandma was born in 1935, think how touched she would be that you, her grandkid, (or great-grandkid) made that for her! And if you need it, of course here is the…

    Number 47 Knit Washcloth Pattern

Awhile ago I made a friend a couple of numbered dishcloths. She is so incredibly knit-worthy and even appreciates a washcloth! (I never know whether to call them washcloths or dishcloths). When we were in junior high we were big Flames fans. We each had our favourite players, mine was Derek Morris (#53) and hers was, and still is, Jean-Sebastien Giguere (#47). So the first of the dishcloths I made was a ’47’ in as close to a Flames red as Bernat makes in Handicrafter. Obviously a 47 is a very specific number. So some ideas on why you would want to make a #47: A 47th birthday Someone born…

    Three Vines Headband

I originally had the idea for this headband over a year ago. But sometimes when you have ideas, that doesn’t mean you know how to turn that idea into something real. While I had thought I knew how to do this, the more I thought about it the more I realized I had no clue! So between this, and not really having time during the school year, it remained a sketch in my notebook. It was only after I had finished my Ripplebutt Shorts that I had an ah-ha moment – I could do the top, most visible, part of this headband with i-cords! I-cords are really not a difficult…

    Free Pattern: Avocado Toast Washcloth

When I released my Avocado Washcloth pattern back in September, I had intended to release this Avocado Toast Washcloth very shortly after. But like most designs, I realized my original intentions weren’t quite going to work and so I put it aside, 15 rows in, for about 8 months. Like the Avocado Washcloth, I was quite surprised there isn’t already an Avocado Toast washcloth on Ravelry, so hopefully you like this one! It is reversible, though I do think the toast looks better with the reverse stockinette background. As with the other washcloth patterns I highly recommend blocking your finished piece, I use a steam block for all my washcloth…

    Tree-rrific Christmas Stocking

Scroll down for the FREE pattern, or get the inexpensive ad-free PDF in my shop! I’d had a vague idea for a stocking for a few months, but wasn’t sure I would get to it this year. Then last month when I was visiting my best friend we were talking about stockings with her husband, and how their about-to-be-born baby didn’t have one yet. Both of them have stockings that were made for them and I offered to make one for the new baby! The dad-to-be requested that it be green, which immediately put a variation on this design in my head. That one didn’t quite work out, but it…

    Free Pattern: Avocado Washcloth

Like my Pineapple Washcloths, this one is inspired by a food I cannot eat. Avocado became the 3rd fruit that my body decided it hated, probably at the worst time as avocado has done nothing but climb in popularity since then. Why is there so much avocado in sushi? Especially vegetarian sushi? I was actually really, really surprised that there wasn’t already a knit avocado washcloth like this in existence on Ravelry. Once I realized that, I mapped out the pattern right away, but then took 2 months to actually make it. That’s what happens during summer vacation I guess. While I have knit on the lake, I have yet…
