    Pattern Review: Ripple Buttshorts

I think I’ve mentioned before that one of the ways I choose patterns to make, is because I have seen the pattern made a lot, and generally like how it looks almost every time a see a picture of it. This was the case for Jessie Maed Designs’ Ripple Buttshorts. When she first announced she was doing a shorts pattern I felt “meh” about it. Some of the first I saw though I did really like. And as the pattern actually came out and more and more people made it I thought I’d give it a try. Only because I had yarn in my stash (Knit Crate from OML 2019…

    Pattern Review: Autumn League Pullover

Like many people, when Alexi of Two of Wands released her Fall 2018 collection with Lion Brand, I instantly fell in love with the Autumn League Pullover (affiliate link). So many people fell in love with it that the kit very quickly sold out. So I asked for it for Christmas, and finished it the following Christmas, well on Boxing Day. It took a few months to actually get started on it, but right off the bat you get into the most important parts of this sweater – the raglan construction and the ‘V’ detail at the collar. The instructions are very clear so that you can be successful in…

Longjohn Beanie – My First Tested Pattern

First of all I need to disclose something. I HATE the word beanie. To me beanie does not refer to this kind of hat, but apparently it does indicate a toque (the Canadian/French-Canadian word for this kind of hat), to the rest of the world, so beanie it is. Ok, now that’s out of the way I can continue talking about this particular toque – the Longjohn Beanie. I love waffles, waffle-weave shirts, and waffle-weave pyjamas. There is a gorgeous waffle stitch in crochet and I wanted a knit version of it, and then came across this one. I actually had another intention for this stitch that is hopefully still…

    Pattern Review: Ursa Sweater

To be honest, this sweater wasn’t on my radar. I had seen it on Instagram, but I have such a long list of things to make that it hadn’t been added to the queue. However, some friends were really excited about it and an Ursa Sweater cast-on party was organized, and I couldn’t say no to that! For the above reasons I decided I would not buy yarn specifically for this sweater. I had a couple Lion Brand (affiliate link)options of bulky yarn in my stash and since I have had a real spring-pastel theme going on Instagram at the moment I went with Color Made Easy (affiliate link) in…

Pattern Testing the Amethyst Grace Cardigan

This is probably Laura of White Willow Wearables‘ best pattern to date! I was a little on the fence about applying to test knit this cardigan because I had A LOT of other projects on the go. But, it had a really long testing period, so I figured I could manage – this can be an important feature when you’re looking for test knitters. The other thing I needed to consider was my repeated proclamation that I was going on a yarn diet. Testing would definitely mean I would have to buy yarn. I mean look at this thing, that’s a lot of yarn! But I went to Michael’s and…
