Pattern Testing the Life’s a Beach Crop Top

Pattern testing is one of my favourite things to do!  I’ll have lots more on pattern testing later, but to start I’ll share my latest pattern test, the Life’s a Beach Crop Top which was just released on Friday!

This pattern from Chantal of Knitatude is an incredibly easy garment that would be perfect for a first piece of clothing to make.  The first garment I made was a sweater, with front & back panels and sleeves that then had to be seamed together.  The Life’s a Beach Crop Top doesn’t have any of that time consuming nonsense, so you can just start it now and be wearing it in a week or two!  You just knit and purl, bind off and three-needle bind off!  Never done a three-needle bind off?  There are loads of tutorials available, whether you prefer pictures (to use when not on WiFi!) or videos.  I like Purl Soho for all sorts of tutorials, and this one has both video and pictures.  And this is the perfect new thing to learn after using those knitting and purling skills that you’ve already mastered!

You already know how to do all those things, and more?  This is still a remarkably fun and fast pattern for when you need something mindless, or you just want to actually finish a wip!

It was originally knit with Lion Brand’s 24/7 Cotton, and that’s what I used to test the pattern as well.  It’s extremely wearable with nice drape and isn’t noticeable against the skin like other yarns and is really great for throwing over your bikini, especially since it’s a little bit sheer.

Get the pattern now from either Etsy or Ravelry! (Update – use Ravelry if you can!)
